The Battle !

The battle was about to begin.
The sides took their position on either side of the battlefield. Dressed in black and white, they could have not been more contradictory in appearance.
They were equally matched in might though. Their first line of defence was the infantry. The cavalry of horses along with war elephants stood behind the infantry, ready for attack. The king and his queen were kept away from the front line. They, for the moment, will just observe the proceedings.
When the war drums began to blare, the men in black made their move. Their infantry marched into the battlefield with great vigor. Their goal was to infiltrate the enemy’s defenses. On the other hand, the men in white were cautious with their battle strategy. There were defensive and made very calculated moves.
In a few minutes, either infantries had been fully mobilized and the battle was in full swing. Dead men began littering the field. Upon seeing that, the cavalries decided to take charge and moved in.
This time the men in white took the offensive to the men in black. A commander of a white battalion swiftly penetrated the enemy lines and slit the throat of a dark knight. However, he was crushed under the foot of an enemy elephant. The elephant went on a rampage in the battlefield, wiping out the entire infantry of the white army. A knight put an end to the mad elephant as it began dashing towards the king. But the damage had already been done.
The men in black sensed their chance.
Their black king ordered his remaining troops forward. The plan was to obliterate the rest of the enemy cavalry before taking the royals down.
The men in white sensed their chance too.
Their king ordered his troops to wait till the enemy’s defence was down before closing in on the enemy royals.
The battle got fiercer.
Using an elephant as his shield, a black knight charged towards the white cavalry. The few infantry men who were alive provided him enough cover as he slain a white knight and an elephant. The men in white put up a fight, but a couple of mistakes set them back. They were running out of men and moves. They were desperate. They needed some luck. And some inspiration too.
The white queen looked at the men and knew what she had to do. Before her king could protest, she stepped forward into the battlefield. Her first kill was the dark knight who had inflicted great damage on her side. She broke his back in two and threw him out of the field. She then systematically wiped out the white infantry.
Meanwhile, an enemy elephant got closer to her king and brought him to his feet. Fortunately for the king, he was able to signal his queen who came to his rescue. She brought down the enemy’s last war elephant. However, she failed to notice the slew of arrows the black queen had launched at her before it was too late. She went down eyeing her king as she did.
Now, it was the black queen turn to create havoc and she did not disappoint. With the remaining soldiers that were alive, she began to march into the enemy lines. One by one, she hunted down the enemy elephants. But even she could not withstand the onslaught of the men in white who in their desperation began making random movies with the intent to kill.
The black queen fell back. She returned to her fort and his king to defend them. With her infantry and cavalry demolished she was their last hope. However, she did not live long enough to see the battle through. She fell for a trap and was smothered by only standing white knight.
The black was left alone in his fort. He tried to hide within the fortified walls but was soon discovered. The white king arrived on scene. The black king had three option - death, surrender or an improbable escape. The haughty king chose the third. In short but quick steps, he began running.
A chase ensued.
However, he only made a half a dozen moves before the enemy surrounded him on all sides. The white king removed his sword from the sheath. With a thundering laugh, he approached the black king who was moving about not knowing what to do.
The white king placed the sword on the black king's throat and cried, “Checkmate!” And all the kings and the queens, the elephants and the horses, and even forts went flying in the air.
