The thing called Humans !
We, humans are animals. We contribute a little to the vast animal kingdom. This is obvious form the fact that, the number of bees, outnumber us by 8 t0 1. Also, we are no different from any other animal. If we can communicate through languages, animals can too. It doesn't mean that only we do all talking, if we don't understand what others say. If we can smile and laugh, so can others. A recent study claims that, dolphins smile more frequently than us. If we can show love and affection, so can they. Oh! well, the common sense. When a stone and a coconut were given to a boy and a monkey, the monkey carefully used the stone to break open the coconut and ate the flesh, whereas he boy, threw away the coconut and broke open his neighbour's head. Praise our common sense. With nothing special and being the minority, how did men come to dominate the planet?
Adaptation. All animals tend to adapt to their surroundings. If they find no food, they migrate to where food is available. If they can't survive the winter, they pay a visit to the sun. When they find predators around, they run far away. But, what do we humans do? We adapt our surroundings to fit us, or at least we are learning. On this planet, where only the fittest survive, that's an important learning. Learn to be fit or pretend to. We don't roam for food anymore. We make it where we live or import. We don't fear cold or heat, when we have something over a 100$ to buy an air conditioner. We don't live in caves or dens. We don't eat anything raw. And most of all, we don't fear the other animals, as we did during the initial stages of our evolution. In short, we have transformed this our Earth, into our own Residence, where other living beings look outsiders.
Well, now the question is, have we done anything good with our intentions? No, not the least. We have already disturbed the ecological balance, by hunting down animals. We have never backed out from helping the pathogens, by keeping ourselves and our surroundings unclean. In the effort of controlling living room temperatures and in the name of industrialisation, we have caused Global warming. Our researches, have thanked us with a few holes in the ozone. Did we stop with this? In the name of conservation, we have wiped out species after species form the surface of Earth. Trying to save the endangered species, we have helped them exit quickly. We have interfered whenever possible with Nature and have brought about her destruction. After doing all this to Earth, we search for a habitable planet in and out the solar system. How foolish, we are behaving.
We have always fiddled with Nature and have never let her alone in her job. Trying to be fit, we are turning our planet inhabitable. 200,000 years ago, when our ancestors, walked this planet, they saw it with great awe and wonder. Will we leave anything for our descendants to be surprised of, except a round grave yard?
We possessed a special quality that we have learnt over the years, that no other animal ever imagined to possess. But, it is really sad that we have not used that to do something creative. Its not too late. Leave nature to her own ways. She will be good to all. If we keep interfering in her business, she can't be held responsible for the outcomes. LEAVE NATURE ALONE!
