Pray for me Brother !

It was one more day in his Life. A new life in fact. None from his immediate family has worked before in the IT industry, let alone in a big city. It was not long, before he jumped into his social works. He had always had an interest towards them. He believed, no cause is lost until one fool is left to fight for it. He knew, he was not alone in this cause.

He did not have much work that day or at least he was not inclined to do any work. He was anxious. He has waited long for this day. Since he was a child, he had always wondered, why some of his neighbours, some of them, kids of his same age had to live a different life. He never had to ask his mother for food. It was always there for him. He did not know what hunger meant. He never had to compromise with what he desired. His father would buy him, whatever he needed. He lived in a relatively big house, studied in an English medium school and was leading a comfortable life. by any means. Life was not the same for his neighbours. He had seen them, eating some one's left-overs. He had seen their dirty clothes and unoiled hair. He had seen disease-ridden children lying down on the streets, with no one to take care. These things had left a desire in him. To help those unprivileged, in any possible means. And, that desire was steps away from being fulfilled or at least starting to.

He had recently found a friend, a colleague, who was no less to him, in such desires. Both had decided to help, each other out in this intentions. And, here was the day. They were visiting a home, which provides roof to HIV-affected infants. Trying to find the home, they got lost a couple of times, before reaching there.

It looked any other home dedicated to charity. A small statue of Jesus welcomed them into the home. A nun, greeted them and took them inside to meet those children. It was dinner time and the children, most of them between five and fifteen, were seated in two lines, eagerly feeding on what they were given to eat. These aliens stepped into their world, only to get a cheering welcome.

It was the first time in his life, he felt that way. He did not know, whether he was happy for his dream was getting fulfilled, or sad for the state of those children. He knew, they may not make it until his next visit. His heart became heavy. He looked at those children, innocently laughing, playing, fighting, talking eating. They did not know, what fate was awaiting them, for none of their mistakes. He couldn't say a comforting words, cause he didn't know the local language and they probably didn't know his. He was not even able to put up a smile on his face. He knew, he couldn't be so innocent like them. He knew, he wasn't blessed like them. There was nothing but silence.

Then they met a couple of new born babies, sleeping cutely in their cradles. His throat was full of something and he was about to cry. But his pride, cautioned him not to. He belonged to those stupid human race. he cursed himself for that. He was ashamed, when he realized, he didn't have the smallest sense to bring a couple of chocolates for those kids. He was one more man, who felt he has done his social duty, just by giving some money. He felt really bad for that.

After all the formalities of handing over the money had happened, they were preparing to leave. Only at this point of time, he looked into the eyes of one of those kids. He did not know his name, religion or language. No words were exchanged. He knew, the kid was not looking him for getting something, be it chocolates or money. The kid was looking for care and he passed a message to him, just between the hearts. The kid had told him, "Pray for me Brother". He has responded to it in affirmative.

That night, he was restless. He couldn't find peace which he desired to have. His heart kept pounding for the kid. He never had a chance to visit that kid. He do not know his fate either. But, he does keep hearing him. Just four words, those that were never unspoken. He prays for his brother.

Please do pray for those ill-fated children. It doesn't take away from you anything. This is a request from one of your brothers.
