PDA Vs PDL
Well, If you are a technician or an engineering graduate, the two terms that will jump into your mind are Personal Digital Assistant and People Distribution List. You may be wondering, what have these two guys got between themselves. Of course, they don't have anything between them. In fact this blog is absolutely non-technical and the title goes like, "Public Display of Affection" Versus "Public Display of Lust".
The first term is common and is debated everywhere. The second term is my own. For sometime now, our interpretation of affection has changed. Exchanging kisses, having intercourse and love for flesh have been misunderstood as affection. I perceive this as lust, because affection is much more simpler and ecstatic. It's to take care, be protective, Love and be-loved from heart and be there for the other when necessary.
Humans have gradually become flesh lovers. It goes for both men and women, one craving for the other. But what they have failed to realize is that, this pleasure from flesh is only a small part in their life and can be shown only to a few. In India, its said to be one. But affection is not limited. It can be shown to anyone and everyone, irrespective of age, gender, religion, colour and of course, the mass of flesh.
Taken this meaning, i don't think there is anything wrong with PDA. Holding the hand of a friend of opposite sex, hugging him/her, talking a walk together and making merry in public doesn't have anything to do with lust. I welcome them. But what we see in our streets, beaches and parks does not make into this category. Searching for hideouts, touching the intimate parts of the other in public certainly is not affection. Its complete lust. But only a few do this, a lot more fell affection. But unfortunately, because of these few, all others are mistaken and PDL is considered a part of PDA. I hope people will learn to differentiate both.
lust is a commodity. It can be bought and sold anywhere and everywhere. But affection is a feeling. It can't be bought or sold. It must be earned. Please don't oppose PDA. It has the power to bridge the gaps within our society. Oppose PDL. If not, prefer LOVE over Lust.
Public Display of Love sounds much better that the other.
